Kurimoto Japanese Garden

Step into the Kurimoto Japanese Garden for an evening of culture, connection, and celebration — taiko drumming, floating lanterns, art, music, tea ceremonies and more.
Featuring:
- Tracing Belonging - Japanese Canadian Community: A photography exhibit by artist Nozomi Kamei
- Kita no Taiko Drummers
- Shinobue Flute and Keyboards with The Fake Samuraiz
- Japanese Tea Ceremonies (sold out)
- Float a Lantern in the Pond ($5/lantern, purchase at Garden, while supplies last)
- Kendo Demonstrations by Sturgeon Kendo
- Ikebana Displays by Ikonobo Ikebana Club
- Bonsai Displays by Bonsai Society
- Japanese Food by Nomiya (pre-order is now closed—limited quantities will be available at the event, while supplies last)
- Modern Matcha Lattes by Chasen Matcha (purchase at Garden, while supplies last)
- Children's Activities
Most activities are included with purchase of general admission to the Garden; extra charges apply for food, matcha lattes, tea ceremony tickets and floating lanterns.
Advance booking is recommended. Garden Members get free admission.

Add a snack box to your ticket order! Indulge in a flavourful snack box from Nomiya. Available in Regular or Vegetarian, each box is crafted for one person to enjoy and priced at $19.50/ snack box. Pre-order now closed—limited quantities will be available at the event, while supplies last.
- Your Regular Snack Box will include: Kabocha pumpkin nitsuke, Eggplant agedashi, Dashimaki tamago, Chicken karaage, Takoyaki, Sunomono, Kimchi cream cheese, Onigiri rice ball (salmon), and Shrimp mayo
- Your Vegetarian Snack Box will include: Kabocha pumpkin nitsuke, Eggplant agedashi, Dashimaki tamago, Cauliflower karaage, Enoki mushroom roll with eggplant, Sunomono, Kimchi cream cheese, Onigiri rice ball (ume plum), and Edamame tofu
Tea ceremony tickets must be booked separately.
The Pathways series of events celebrate the richness of diverse traditions and artistic expression, creating new connections between peoples through the universal language of the arts. These immersive events bring global traditions to life with performance, food, storytelling and art. Join us for an evening of cultural experience for the second Pathways series, centered in the Kurimoto Japanese Garden.

- Ikebana (Flower Arranging) Display - Ikonobo Ikebana Club
- Bonsai Display - Bonsai Society
- Children’s Activities
- Japanese Food - Nomiya (pre-order now closed—limited quantities will be available at the event, while supplies last)
- Modern Matcha Lattes - Chasen Matcha (purchase at Garden, while supplies last)
6:00 p.m. - Kendo Demonstration with Sturgeon Kendo
6:30 p.m. - Shinobue Flute and Keyboards with the Fake Samuraiz
7:00 p.m. - Kita no Taiko Drummers
7:30 p.m. - Japanese Tea Ceremony (Sold Out)
Starting at dusk (approx. 7:00 p.m.) - Float a lantern in the pond and add to a beautiful display to honour your ancestors and mark the end of summer. Decorate it, write a message or simply let it float unadorned. Lanterns cost $5 and can be purchased at the Garden, while supplies last.

Important To Know
- This event will run rain or shine. In the event of rain, activities will be moved indoors to the Diwan Pavilion. There are no refunds if it rains. However, if there is a severe weather warning issued by Environment Canada, the Garden may cancel the event and refunds may be issued.
