Congratulations to Boyoung Chang (Assistant Professor, East Asian Studies) for receiving a for her project "Re/Constructing the Nation: Photography and Korea since the 1990s". 

Project Description: This project examines how contemporary Korean photography since the 1990s has both reflected and actively shaped South Korea's transition to democratization and globalization. Rather than merely documenting change, this book argues, Korean photographers have engaged with issues from colonial legacies to democratization, urbanization, and diaspora, utilizing diverse styles to help reconsider national identity. The study positions Korea as a site of transnational dialogue and ultimately demonstrates that photography has been a mediating force in the nation's transformation.
