At the AI Centre for Decision Analytics, we engage undergraduate and graduate students with AI and analytics courses as well as innovative research and opportunities to explore scenarios outside the classroom through experiential learning and innovative research.

Master of Management Analytics

Designed to impart both theoretical expertise and practical skills, the MMA’s curriculum is a mixture of case studies, hands-on projects and collaborative group exercises. You’ll apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges, using cutting-edge analytics software and engaging with industry pioneers.

With small class sizes taught by instructors with a wealth of industry knowledge and extensive networks, the program offers a world of learning and work-placement opportunities. Choose between a full-time 12-month program, a full-time 16-month program with an internship, or a part-time 24-month program.

MMA 600 - Bootcamp coding
Two-Week Kickstart Bootcamp: A focused learning journey where MMA students build a strong foundation in two essential programming languages—Python and R.
MMA 601 - Business Foundations and Strategic Decision Making
In the first session, students are introduced to business fundamentals, followed by a second session that explores the dynamic world of data-driven strategy. The course develops essential skills for using data to effectively frame decisions.
MMA 602 - Machine Learning for Business I
This course explores machine learning models for analyzing large datasets (“big data”) and their applications in business, such as recommender systems. Students will gain hands-on experience with analytics tools and apply them to real business datasets. While developing technical skills, the main focus is on understanding how machine learning can solve unstructured business problems through case studies and projects.
MMA 603 - Data Visualization and Business Communications
This course trains students to transform raw data into meaningful visualizations and communicate insights effectively in a business context. It covers the fundamentals of data visualization, design principles, and storytelling with data. Through hands-on experience with tools like Tableau and Excel, students will learn to create and interpret a variety of visualizations, focusing on choosing the most effective formats to accurately represent data and answer business questions.

AI + Analytics Courses

OM 420 – Predictive Business Analytics

Application of predictive statistical models extends across critical domains, including insurance risk management, credit risk evaluation, targeted advertising, appointment scheduling, hotel and airline overbooking, and fraud detection. This course equips students with the essential skills to extract data from relational databases, prepare it for analysis, and construct predictive models using machine learning algorithms. The emphasis is on the practical application of analytical tools to enhance decision-making, prioritizing real-world impact over intricate algorithmic details.

OM 423 and OM 623 – Prescriptive Analytics

Prescriptive analytics involves the use of data, mathematical models, and algorithms to identify optimal solutions for achieving organizational goals. This process builds on descriptive and predictive analytics, going beyond the interpretation of past events and the forecasting of future scenarios to also provide advice on the most effective actions to meet business objectives. Students acquire the skills to convert complex business problems into mathematical models, and employ Python programming and commercial solvers to derive optimal decisions.

OM 421 and OM 621 – Data Visualization

Visual displays of quantitative information include charts, tables, maps, dashboards, animations, and more. Such displays can be used to understand, to inform, and to convince. This course will focus on strategies for carefully and clearly communicating analytical findings to the people who need to take action based on them. Students learn to use both basic tools (MS Excel) and advanced tools (Tableau and R) to create visual displays.

BTM 415 – Data Base Design and Administration

Application of database concepts in organizations. A comprehensive introduction to the design and development of relational databases from a logical data model. The relational database access language SQL is used along with a number of key-software development tools. Effective data administration techniques for enforcing integrity and security as well as enhancing performance are discussed. Topics of special current interest include data warehousing and the object-oriented data model.
