Arts Career Development Certificate Program
Elevate your career by participating in the Arts Career Development Certificate Program!
The Arts Career Development Certificate Program is open to all undergraduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Arts. Students must attend all four workshops to receive a certificate and letter of completion signed by the Faculty of Arts upon completing the program.
Why participate?
- Learn strategies to effectively manage your career
- Develop a better understanding of how you can put your Arts degree to work
- Understand the value of networking and how to engage meaningfully with connections
- Gain better insight in what to expect in the workplace
Eligibility:
- Must be an undergraduate student enrolled in the Faculty of Arts
- Must attend all four workshops to receive the certificate
Each workshop requires a separate registration (see details below). Attendance will be taken at each workshop to determine eligibility for program completion.

Workshop Details:
Professional Communication
WHEN: Thursday, October 16, 2025 | 12:30 - 1:20 p.m.
WHERE: South Academic Building (SAB) room 3-36
Strong communication is one of the most important skills you can bring to any workplace. This session will provide you with the tools you need to effectively communicate and build relationships with colleagues and supervisors. You'll learn practical tips for improving your conversations, writing professional emails, and communicating clearly and effectively in your workplace.
Networking Techniques and Strategies
WHEN: Wednesday, November 19, 2025 | noon - 12:50 p.m.
WHERE: South Academic Building (SAB) room 3-25
Most career opportunities are found through connections rather than job postings. This session will share practical strategies to help you build meaningful professional relationships, increase your visibility, and create opportunities for your future. You will gain valuable insights and tools that you can apply right away to strengthen your career journey.
Resumes & Cover Letters for Arts Students
WHEN: Thursday, January 29, 2026 | 12:30 - 1:20 p.m.
WHERE: To be determined
This workshop will help you to identify the experiences and attributes gained through your degree. You will also learn how to present these qualities effectively through the creation of a targeted resume and cover letter. You will gain the knowledge and resources needed to align yourself with a prospective employer and stand out as a unique individual.

What to Expect in the Workplace
WHEN: Wednesday, March 4, 2026 | noon - 1:20 p.m.

Starting a new job can feel overwhelming, but knowing what to expect can make all the difference. This session will help you prepare by exploring workplace culture, professional standards, and practical strategies to set yourself up for success. You’ll walk away with tips you can apply on day one, so you can feel confident, professional, and ready to make the most of your experience.
