Caron Symposium

Ten years since the Caron-Boutet case: what progress has been made, and what setbacks have there been for French in Western Canada and Canada as a whole?

On November 19 and 20, 2025, Campus Saint-Jean will host a symposium bringing together researchers from the fields of law, geography, history, and political science, members of community organizations, and students to take stock of the state of Francophone rights ten years after the Caron-Boutet case was dismissed by the Supreme Court of Canada. This project has an academic component, a community component, and an educational component that will bring together the academic community and community organizations to reflect on the judicialization of politics and its effects on vulnerable communities.
