Certificate in Indigenous Sport and Recreation
The undergraduate embedded Certificate in Indigenous Sport and Recreation is offered jointly by the Faculty of Native Studies and the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation.
Toward greater inclusivity of Indigenous peoples in sport and recreation, as called for by the Calls to Action (#87-91, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Final Report, 2015), this certificate will provide learning opportunities for KSR students that support an awareness of Indigenous voices. NS students will have an opportunity to develop perspectives on the value of sport, physical activity, recreation, movement, and exercise. All students will develop health and leadership skills required to deliver inclusive community programming. The certificate aims to support the enhancement of community health through these learnings.
Students wishing to be awarded the undergraduate embedded Certificate in Indigenous Sport and Recreation must apply either through the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation or the Faculty of Native Studies early in their degree programs to ensure that they have access to the required courses.
