Lowering the Flag: Brandon Basler

The ¶®É«µÛ banner is flying at half-mast from March 31-April 3, 2023 in remembrance of Brandon Basler, undergraduate student in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science, Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences.
We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Brandon Keith Basler, son of Crystal Basler and Keith Basler. Brandon passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the age of 32 years, due to an undiagnosed heart complication.
Brandon was born in Saskatoon, SK into the NICU at Royal University Hospital. Brandon grew up in Prince Albert, SK and later moved to Calgary, AB when he started grade six. Brandon graduated from Dr. EP Scarlett High School and was pursuing undergraduate studies at the University of Saskatchewan and the ¶®É«µÛ, in hopes of pursuing a career in dietetics.
In his younger years, Brandon played hockey and enjoyed mountain biking and snowboarding. In later years, he developed an interest in personal fitness and NFL football, always joining a fantasy football league with his extended family. Brandon was an easy going, kind and goofy individual. He had a big heart and gentle soul. He will forever be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, loving deeply and strongly, his wry grin and contagious laugh.
Brandon is survived by his mom Crystal, dad Keith, sister Hailey, and brother-in-law Stuart, as well as many extended family and friends in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Brandon was predeceased by his uncle Ken, grandpa Orvin and Cousin Kelly.
