Lowering the Flag: Dr. Jalpa Tewari

The ¶®É«µÛ banner is flying at half-mast from May 3-5, 2023 in remembrance of Dr. Jalpa Prasad “JP” Tewari, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Plant Pathology, Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jalpa Prasad (JP) Tewari on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the age of 85. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ishwari Tewari, and he leaves his two sons, Sanjiv (Elena) and Rajiv (Noorja) and three grandchildren (Nikhil, Vijay, and Samir). JP, the son of Suraj Narain Tewari and Chandrawati (Shukla) Tewari, was brought into this world on December 31, 1937 in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, India. From a young age, he was a scholar and an athlete. He received his PhD from the University of Lucknow in Plant Pathology, where he met and courted his future wife, who was earning her doctorate in the same field. He was an avid badminton player and he loved cricket and football (soccer).
