Sharen McLean
Alberta Elks Representative
Sharen McLean joined the Stavely Royal Purple Lodge #99 on April 4, 1966, now known as the Stavely Royal Purple Elks Lodge #99, and has been a continually active member ever since. Sharen started out on many committees at her home lodge then advanced Provincially and Nationally for a number of years learning and advancing in the knowledge of the Royal Purple and Elks at the various levels of advancement, eventually moving up to the executive levels. Sharen became Honoured Royal Lady in her home lodge in 1988-89, District Deputy of District #5 AB 1993-94, was Supreme (National) Historian 1996-97, Alberta Royal Purple Lodges Association President 2004-05, Supreme (National Leader) Honoured Royal Lady 2011-2012.
Sharen and her eleven siblings grew up on a farm west of Stavely and learned volunteerism early in their lives. Their Mother was a Chartered Member of the Stavely Royal Purple Lodge #99 and their Father was a life member of the Stavely Elks Lodge #112. It was routine to help whenever and wherever you were needed. Sharen's career in nursing was a highlight in her life. Sports were also a big part of participation, and in 2001 Sharen was extremely fortunate to be on the Alberta Senior Curling Team who went to Canadians that year.
Sharen is happily married to the love of her life, Bill for now 55 years, and has two healthy and happily married sons. Stephen to Tarah who lives in Calgary and Keith to Josine who live in Haarlem, Netherlands. We are truly fortunate to have two grandsons, Levi and Brody and also three grand puppies Oliver, Edmund, and Monty, better known as Dennis the Menace!
