Unique multidisciplinary care at the Oral Medicine Clinic

We proudly host a specialized multidisciplinary Orofacial Pain Clinic, the only one of its kind in Western Canada. Through a triage-based approach, select cases are managed by a collaborative team to ensure patients with complex conditions receive comprehensive, coordinated care. Our integrated team includes physiotherapists, dietitians, psychologists, oral surgeons, physicians, pharmacists, and dental specialists, working together to address every aspect of your health.

What should patients expect?

  • Step one: Diagnostic assessment

Your first appointment will consist of a diagnostic assessment, a collection of your medical history, an examination and may include capturing photographs, x-rays, or a 3D scan of your teeth.

  • Step two: Treatment

After developing a personalized, evidence-based treatment plan and reviewing the options with you, the treatment will begin with your assigned clinical graduate student under the direct supervision of an oral medicine specialist and in collaboration with our multidisciplinary team.

  • Step three: Follow-up and monitoring

Regular follow-up visits are an essential part of managing chronic conditions. These appointments help us track your progress, make adjustments, and incorporate other treatment approaches as needed, while always aiming to stay conservative and optimize your outcomes and pain control.
