Status

3.1 Provide instructors with easily accessible information to assist with their support for students with approved accommodations, and reduce barriers and improve access to welcoming, accessible and inclusive academic spaces.

Indicators:

  • Create a resource for instructors
  • Gather feedback from instructors on the resource
  • Measure instructor understanding of the accommodation process
  • The number of concerns raised by instructors on the accommodations process

  • The Centre for Teaching and Learning launched new courses for instructors related to accessibility and a one-on-one consultation service.
  • The Disability Cultures + Access Hub serves as a resource to coordinate tools, strategies and awareness programs aimed at reducing barriers and supporting disability-inclusive practices. It will address issues such as hybrid pedagogy, accessible communications and inclusive recreation, while identifying systemic solutions to recurring access challenges.

3.2 Develop and promote best practices for universal course design and instruction.

3.3 Reduce barriers to academic accommodations through continuation of the Accessibility Enhancements project.

  • Indicators of success for the Accessibility Enhancement Project
  • Increase the number of accessibility advisors and areas of expertise
  • Reduce average wait times for students to access an intake appointment at the Academic Success Centre.
  • Reduce processing time for students to receive access to accommodations

  • The Accessibility Enhancement Project is focusing on improving accommodations-related processes, technology and services for students, including processes and procedures in Student Success and Experience.
  • The Academic Success Centre accepts new accommodation requests throughout the year.

3.4 Invest in the Academic Success Centre - Accessibility & Accommodation Services to increase the number of accessibility advisors and meet the increasing needs of the student population.
