6.1 Offer a broad spectrum of services for crisis prevention and management.

Indicators:

  • Availability of walk-in or same-day mental health appointments
  • Student Experience Survey: Student Service Awareness

  • Number of staff and faculty who have taken crisis training to build capacity
  • Training survey questions pre/post re: impact of training to support students in crisis
  • Establishing pre-training and post-training surveys on supporting students in crises

  • One-At-A-Time Therapy was launched in 2024 to offer students therapy appointments on short notice.
  • In December 2024, Counselling & Clinical Services piloted “A Dose of Support” to offer students quick, drop-in mental health appointments during high-stress times in the student life cycle.

6.2 Increase the awareness of immediate crisis resources and their purpose.

Indicators:

  • Data from 211 on student usage
  • Track sources of service referrals
  • Measure staff confidence in referring students
  • Gather staff and student feedback on resources

6.3 Apply a suicide prevention lens for evaluating and improving proactive supports.

Indicators:

  • Frequency of student mental health calls to the ¶®É«µÛ Protective Services (UAPS) after-hours
  • Implement a way to track mental health, substance and homelessness calls separately
  • Frequency of referrals to the Safe House Program
  • Use of the Residence Coordinator after-hours support 
  • The number of peer-delivered workshops that talk about suicide 
  • Number of crisis-related appointments at Counselling & Clinical Services, Wellness Supports, Peer Support Centre, ¶®É«µÛ Sexual Assault Centre, and Care Coordinators
